For ARTISTSHelp With Legal and Insurance MattersArtists' Health Insurance Resource Center – This is a database of health insurance information for artists and people in the entertainment industry. It was created in 1998 by The Actors’ Fund of America, with a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. This link is to the New Jersey information, but the database is national. Foundations and Arts OrganizationsNew York Foundation for the Arts – The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) helps individual artists and arts organizations "turn inspiration into art. Our goal is to provide the time and resources for the creative mind and the artistic spirit to think, work, and prosper." This is a great resource; check out the Visual Artist Information Hotline. National Endowment for the Arts – Public agency dedicated to "supporting excellence in the arts, both new and established; bringing the arts to all Americans; and providing leadership in arts education. Established by Congress in 1965 as an independent agency of the federal government, the Endowment is the nation's largest annual funder of the arts." Arts Plan NJ – Co-sponsored by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts(NJSCA), ArtPRIDE Foundation and New Jersey Network Foundation (NJN), Arts Plan NJ is a statewide initiative to create a better New Jersey through and for the arts. ResidenciesVermont Studio Center – Founded by artists in 1984, the Vermont Studio Center is an international creative community that supports the making of art as "the communication of spirit through form." The web site has information about residencies and visiting artists and writers. Help With Career MattersArtist Help Network – Portal to help fine artists mine resources on career development, career challenges, and personal and creative growth. The site is packed with publications, organizations, service providers, Web sites, software, and audio-visual materials Art ResearchArtslynx – This portal is a collection of curated link libraries and original material that are optimized for researchers, scholars, educators, students, and professionals working in the arts. It includes information about Theatre, Dance, Music, as well as visual arts. InspirationChronogram – According to their web site, Luminary Publishing has the aim of "nourishing and supporting the creative and cultural life of the Hudson Valley" and to "disseminate material that nourishes and support the creative life of our region and in the world, and to demonstrate a paradigm of that creativity in action." But the site is fun anyway. Dexigner – "World Design Portal". Ambitious site covers all these design topics: Product, Graphic, Fashion, Architecture, Digital, Textile, and Art. Food, Art & The Media – Hungry for art? Japanese Watermelon Carvings – Display of 34 examples of this unusual art form. Imagination Prompt Generator – Use this neat little gizmo next time you're stuck with a creative block. Help With Techniques, MaterialsDemos of Lightness Illusions – Learn about how light works and use it in your artwork. This interactive presentation is based on a chapter titled "Lightness Perception and Lightness Illusions", by Edward Adelson, Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. POVCOMP Hall of Fame – The Persistence Of Vision Raytracer ('POV-Ray') is a freely downloadable cross-platform application that can be used to generate photorealistic images of objects in the real world, or to visualize 'virtual' objects that do not physically exist. For CollectorsCaring for Sculpture – advice on sculpture maintenance and repair from the New England Sculptors Association AIC "Caring for Your Treasures" – advice from The American Institute for Conservation of Historic & Artistic Works about how to preserve things constructed from paintings and works on paper to architecture and home videotape.
