The West Milford Artists Association Gallery is pleased to announce a group exhibition of works by WMAA founding members DeBorah Goletz, Page Lindroth, and Darlene Pike. Selected works in clay, mixed media and video will be on display. This exhibit will be shown at WMAA Gallery, 1443 Union Valley Road, in West Milford, New Jersey, from May 14 through June 5, 2005.

DeBorah Goletz

DeBorah Goletz is a potter and tile maker whose recent work melds both together in what she calls “architectural pottery.” Goletz stacks wheel thrown pottery and glass mosaics to create a “Portal into the Imagination.” This and other works will be on display at the West Miflord Artists’ Gallery.

DeBorah has a Master’s Degree in Fine Art/Sculpture from Parsons School of Design. She has studied pottery and tile making in the U.S. and Japan, and taught ceramics at Parsons School of Design, Montclair State University, William Patterson University and from her West Milford studio: For Love of Mud.

The public art murals Goletz has created include four murals in the NY subway system, a mural for the public library of Zanesville, Ohio, and two New Jersey Transit stations. Last year DeBorah worked with the residents at Bald Eagle at Van Dyk to create a mural on the facade of the assisted living center. DeBorah is the author of the book Ceramic Art Tile.

Page Lindroth

Page Lindroth's paintings in oil or water media may be humorous or serious, seemingly simple or complex, but all are richly colorful and boldly designed. Her process is intuitive, playful, searching and always presses forward into unknown territory. Images are built and broken down many times before the core of a painting reveals itself. Characters come and go, situations develop; interactions take place, as if on a stage. The drama plays itself out as the painting is completed.

"Art is the theatre of my life. Play and vitality are the essential ingredients. I am inspired to rediscover, manifest and examine the vast and reciprocal energetic relationships that weave their way through all that lives. My physical and emotional response to the vitality and spirit moving within the subjects I paint is what interests me."

Lindroth holds an M.F.A. in painting. She began her professional life at Conti Advertising in Ridgewood, NJ. She later taught at Ramsey High School for a dozen years before leaving to work as a designer with her husband David, a cartographer.

Page Lindroth currently operates Pages Studio. She has offered a variety of workshops to schools, children and adults. Her work hangs in numerous public, private and corporate collections including University of Hartford, Rockland Electric and the Belleville Library.

Darlene Pike

Darlene Pike explores a variety of media in her artwork, employing video as reference for canvases, and incorporating moving images into finished artworks. The viewer is important to the work; she tries to evoke personal reactions from individual viewers. "I want to create an immersive experience and involve the viewer in the process of creation -- this rapport between a viewer and my pieces is what energizes me."

In "Boundaries", randomly generated abstract forms intersect with video images of women at daily activities. The piece is presented in a diminutive kiosk enclosed in antique and handworked textiles. "Triple Self Portrait" is a mixed-media study on paper representing the multi-dimensionality of a single personality.

Pike received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communication Design at Parsons School of Design, and a Masters in Professional Studies from the Interactive Telecommunications Program at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.

Darlene Pike resides in Hewitt, NJ, where she maintains a graphic and web design consultancy.
